Downloading & Installing WordPress
Sameness runs on WordPress.org, one of the world's largest open-source content management systems. If you're not familiar with WordPress, here's a quick overview.
Important: You do NOT need to pay for a WordPress.com subscription to use Sameness. WordPress.org is free and allows you to use Sameness as a plugin.
Minimum WordPress Requirements for Running Sameness
To run Sameness smoothly, make sure your setup meets these basics:
WordPress version 6.0 or higher
PHP version 8.0 or higher
MySQL version 5.7 or higher
HTTPS (SSL certificate installed)
Recommended: At least 512MB RAM for better performance
Most modern hosting providers already meet these standards.
Setting up WordPress through your host
In most cases, hosting companies will provide you with quick-start guides or one-click installs of Wordpress. If you use a dedicated WordPress host (like Flywheel), your host will install WordPress FOR you.
If you are using another hosting company that requires you to install WordPress yourself, follow their guide to setting up WordPress with their hosting.
