The Brand Assistant

Your guidelines stop being a document people read and become a system they can ask.

It answers two questions: what does the brand say, and what should I do here. Both draw on your published guidelines, so nothing gets invented and every claim traces back to a block you wrote. Where the brand is silent it says so, and names the part of the system that would hold the answer. Where two rules contradict each other it surfaces the conflict instead of quietly picking a side. Knowing where your brand is undecided is where governance starts.

New

Brand Import

Start from the brand you already have, in whatever form it currently exists.

Upload links, PDFs, Markdown, or documents. Sameness reads them, maps what it finds onto your foundations, and drafts your documentation from there. Most teams aren't starting from nothing. This turns the pile of files your brand already lives in into a first draft you can edit.

Improved

See what your brand is missing

The overview now shows how complete your brand context and guides actually are.

It tells you what's in place, what's still empty, and what to pick up next. A brand system is rarely finished in one sitting, and the hardest part is remembering where you stopped. Now the gaps are visible instead of something you rediscover months later.

New

Updates, inside the product

Platform updates now live at the bottom left of the side panel.

You no longer have to visit the site to find out what changed. New releases appear where you're already working, which means the things we ship stand a chance of being noticed by the people they were built for.

New

Closed beta opens

The first teams are inside Sameness, building their brand systems for real.

Everything here has been shaped by people applying it to actual brands, which is a different test than building against the idea of one. We're opening access in stages, and the waitlist comes first. If you're on it, you'll hear from us before we open more widely.

Improved

One vocabulary, everywhere

Surfaces, intents, and roles now draw on one shared set of terms across the system.

Free text meant the same idea got written four different ways, and nothing could reliably match a rule to a situation. Shared language fixes that for people reading the guide and for machines querying it. Picking from a list is also faster than inventing a word.

New

The Application guide

A fifth guide, for showing how your brand behaves once it meets real work.

Foundations describe the system in the abstract. Application shows it doing its job, in the situations where someone actually has to make a call. It carries the context a designer needs to make the next decision well, rather than leaving them to infer it.

Improved

Exports you can trust

Every export is now checked, and each decision is stamped with where it came from.

You can see what's governed, what's inherited, and what's still sitting at a default nobody has revisited. Guidelines only help when you know which parts are settled, and validation catches the gaps before they reach whoever is relying on the file.
